Bring your family to Jikoen’s New Year’s Eve temple service on December 31 at 6:00 pm. This family event offers moments of quiet meditation, offerings of gratitude for the year past and the year to come, warm wishes for a prosperous new year from Jikoen members, and simple refreshments to enjoy over conversations with friends.

A new year’s tradition is to strike Jikoen’s temple bell as a gesture of gratitude for all that one has received.

Please make plans to begin 2019 with joy and gratitude at our New Year’s temple service at 6:00 pm in the Jikoen Temple on 1731 North School Street.

Jikoen’s New Year’s Celebration

All are invited to Jikoen’s Annual New Year’s Celebration Luncheon on January 27. The morning begins with a temple service and a special new year’s message by Rev. Shindo Nishiyama at 9:00 am. After the service is lunch, followed by entertainment that features Okinawan music and dance. Each year, the shishimai (Okinawan lions) come for a visit to entertain us with their antics.

This celebration is a time for Jikoen to welcome old friends back to the temple and welcome new comers who wish to learn more about the Dharma. It is a good way to spend a Sunday morning among good friends and new friends.

For more information on either event, please call (808) 845-3423.
